Travels along the Dalmatian Coast – Croatia

Jul 14, 2011 by

I would just sit and drink cappuccinos on the patio of one of the cafe’s I favored that was directly next to where I had seen the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra perform the night before. I remember I had tears in my eyes listening to them play Beethoven’s 5th that night.
I called my mother the next day to fill her in on all the beauty that was surrounding me, and she said, “I’ve never heard such ease and relaxation in your voice. You sound so different, so peaceful.” It was hard not to be anything but relaxed and at ease in such a place of tranquility and happiness.I couldn’t believe where I was, and how lucky I was to be there in this moment.Time stood still.

The smell of fresh produce and lavender filled the streets of Dubrovnik, and surrounded me everyday when I would walk around. I often stopped for a fresh crepe or mozzarella, tomato salad if I was hungry.

I didn’t mind eating alone, because the streets and the beauty were my companion.
